Personalized Visual Schedule

Need classroom visuals in your Autism Unit or self-contained classroom? Then you need to start with a personalized Visual Schedule featuring Boardmaker. With icons your students know and essentials you need, look no further…

    Personalized Visual Schedule

If I had a dollar for every IEP document I got that stated a student needed a personalized visual schedule, I would be loaded! The truth is nearly any student you work with in a self-contained classroom or Autism Unit is probably well served with a personalized visual schedule, but teacher after teacher I support assume they can get by without one.

Don’t make that mistake. If you are a special education teacher, a teacher working in an inclusion setting with students on the spectrum or with significant disabilities, or a teacher who knows the benefits of having visuals in the classroom, then believe that you need personalized visual schedules and be sure to start the year with one in place.

    Visual Schedules are Essential

When it comes to putting together a personalized visual schedule for all your students who need it, then you have probably been there… first week back at school and you spend forever searching for icons that will work, putting together schedules, and getting things prepped. Wouldn’t it be nice to cut some of that prep time down? Yeah, sounds good already… right?

There are tons of schedule combos, so when putting this schedule together for an individual student, I would suggest doing it a certain way to save time. There are 75 full page color icons already set you can choose from. Grab a post it and jot down the icons you need for the student you are building a schedule for. I suggest printing just the icons you need, so after you have your list of needed pages/icons, then print and do NOT print all, type the pages you need. Once you have all that ready, adjust the size of your print so you get 4-to-a-page, 9-to-a-page, or more depending on what you need. I personally print them 16-to-a-page to get them nice and small.

Once I have them this size, I can easily make the personal schedules for each student with the templates provided. If you have several students with the same schedule or really only use a certain set of icons, I would print several copies of the pages you need (16-to-a-page) and then proceed from there.

Let me tell you, I love the 16-to-a-page printing. I can get just what I need, just the right size, and print just one page to get what I need.

In case you are not one of those people who can print multiple to a page or need a lot of icons, then there are pages in the back that are already set up with multiples on a page so you can just press print. With this option, though, you will get icons you may not use. No harm, no foul if you use House of Ink and order discount replacements!

Unlike alternatives, you will get all the parts you need, not just the icons.
